Excursion to the Saloum Islands :

Depart early in the morning and arrive at the Ndangane harbour pier around 9am. Arrival and boarding by traditional pirogue to visit the Bird Island and listen to the loud cackling of pelicans, cormorants, herons and seagulls in their natural habitat.

After disembarking at the seaside camp to access the facilities, a short walk of 300 to 400 meters will take you to the village of Mar Lodj, a typical Serer fishing and farming village where animists, Christians and Muslims live in perfect harmony. During the visit you will discover its church, mosque, customary court,  telephone tam-tam and its sacred tree, symbol of the understanding between the three religions practised on the island. Afterwards, you can enjoy a drink or lunch at the restaurant. Return to the boat and explore the smallest parts of the mangrove swamp. Return by pirogue to the landing stage, then on to Dakar.

 

The Somone Lagoon Trip :

On the Petite-Côte, La Somone, named after a small local river, invites you to relax. The Somone has its source in the Ndiass massif near Thiès and flows into the Atlantic Ocean. Its mouth, separated by a sand spit, forms a nature reserve. Since 1999, the Somone lagoon has been a 700-hectare nature reserve, a paradise for bird watchers. The lagoon is home to 172 bird species. At low tide, the sandbanks and mangrove roots are a favourite feeding ground for many birds. From a pirogue you can easily see gulls, pelicans, grey herons, egrets, terns, ospreys, red-billed hornbills, curlews, gannets, cormorants and more.  Regularly, a flock of birds breaks the silence. And let's not forget the fiddler crabs, whose nimble little legs tap on the sandbanks and disappear into their holes at the slightest vibration.

This is a great walk for nature lovers while you wait to discover the charms of the Siné Saloum or Casamance.

Afterwards, you can enjoy a drink or lunch at Rasta's restaurant or try some oysters at Norbert's.

 

Dakar City Tour and Goree Island:

Upon pick up at your hotel we’ll proceed to :

 * Dakar:

-  The Mosque of Divinity :, a wonderful example of Islamic architecture. You will stop here for the photoshoot.

- African Renaissance Monument : Striking monument of 21st century Africa, it offers a panoramic view of the city of Dakar. You will have an opportunity to take pictures and view the city landmarks from the monument. (Possibility to visit the exibition inside it fot 10 €uros extra charge)

- Presidential Palace : Visit of the presidency, built for the former French Governor, and it now serves as the official home of the current sitting president.

- Kermel Market : It is a beautiful circular building, the fish traders have their place in the center, after come butchers in the next circle, vegetable and fruit dealers together with florists can be seen outside the building, you will find typical African souvenirs such as jewelry, masks, and sculpture

- Visit of the Cathedral of Dakar, the

- The Black Civilizations museum : This is one of the most educational and historical place in Senegal. With an area of ​​15,000 m2, this modern museum is dedicated to African civilizations, where more than 18,000 pieces are currently exhibited, ranging from the remains of the first hominids, which appeared in Africa several million years ago, to creations current artistic. This pan-African project highlights Africa’s contribution to cultural and scientific heritage resolutely turned towards the future (Possibility to visit the exibition inside it fot 6 €uros extra charge)

* Gorée:

Departing from the port of Dakar, by boat to reach the island. Goree, first site in West Africa classified as a World Heritage Site by Unesco in 1978, Goree has managed to preserve the remains of a centuries-long history. It offers a vibrant testimony to an era marked by slavery and colonialism. The influence of the various colonizing peoples is still clearly visible and the colorful houses give this island a little Mediterranean touch. The slave house is the only remaining slave hut on the island. Built in 1786, it has been restored from  bottom to top. The island of Goree is one of the strongest symbols in all of Africa. We’ll visit by turns: the House of Slaves, the imposing west coast cannon, the Memorial of the Castel, St Charles of Borromée Church… Lunch in a nice restaurant at the island near the ocean is possible.

 

Combination Bandia Animal Safari and Lions Ranch

Embark on a car for a double safari adventure in the Bandia Reserve, where you can enjoy a thrilling game drive and witness the stunning wildlife of the African savanna and a encounter with lions.

Starting your adventure with a close encounter with lions. Board a secure, iron-fenced 4x4 vehicle for a half-hour safari in the lions’ homestead, where you can observe these magnificent creatures up close.

Next, transfer to the Bandia Reserve for a game drive. Climb aboard a 4x4 vehicle with your knowledgeable wildlife guide for a 1.5 hour tour in search of the most beautiful animals the African savanna has to offer.

You’ll have the chance to see rhinos, giraffes, impalas, roan antelope, buffalo, zebras, hyenas, Cape and Derby elands, warthogs, patas monkeys, and green vervet monkeys. Keep an eye out for splendid birds, including the Abyssinian roller, long-tailed glossy starling, red-billed hornbill, and yellow-billed kite.

After your exhilarating game drive, enjoy a delicious lunch at the Bandia Reserve restaurant, located near the crocodiles. Following your meal, you will return to your hotel.

 

 

Bandia Wildlife Safari and «  Pink Lake »

Pick up at your hotel residence and departure to Bandia animal sanctuary, the middle of the African savannah. With the help of the ranger, go wild exploring the reserve and find to see some species such as hyenas, giraffes, Zebras, Impalas, Derby elands, cap elands, rhinos, buffalo, Nile Crocodiles, Green Monkeys, Red Monkeys, Kudu, among others. After your visit,  we will proceed for a one-hour drive to the pink lake, to see how men harvest the salt from the lake and women unload it from the boat and pile it up. You will also be given the opportunity to visit a traditional Fulani village, meet with the chief and interact with the locals. Possibility to swim in the lake. Return to your hotel.
